I thought of myself as a Christian for 30 years, but it was an intellectual and emotional exercise. There was something I never realized, even though it is very clear in the Bible: that a specific part of each person's makeup, the human spirit, is made to contain the divine life of God (Romans 9:23-24, 1 Thessalonians 5:23). When I finally asked God to put His life into my human spirit, He did! Now I am able to experience God's presence, peace, and joy day by day and I am able to express His life by myself and with others. By joining with others to express God's life, we are a part of the dwelling place He desires on the earth (1 Peter 2:5).
